The goal of this project was to create a unique and innovative greeting experience to Second Story’s studio at NYC.
The idea was to push the boundaries of wayfinding in physical spaces by merging digital and physical.
We designed an innovative real-time kinetic display that was augmented through real-time projection mapping.
Each blade is actuated by a motor, and synchronized to flip in concert with a projection, mapped to the rotation of each blade.
The kinetic display is responsive – as Visitors step out of the elevators (at the lobby leading to Second Story’s studio), the sign responds to their presence with physical movement and projected dynamic content.
It is a unique updatable platform that can be programmed to run different content on a set schedule. This allows us to daypart content so in the morning, at lunch time, and in the afternoon visitors are greeted with contextual messages.
Also content can be updated on the fly through a content management system.
