A 3D animation simulating BioMe: an autonomous artificial pet which is capable of obtaining its energy sources – flies – by utilizing an elastic trapping mechanism.
The design concept is based on the model of Gastrobots, a class of intelligent machines that derive their operational power by digesting real food; Utilizing Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs), which can directly convert organic substrates into electricity.
The design of the “eating” mechanism derived from a biomimetics (biologically inspired) perspective; Mimicking the Venus flytrap snapping mechanism.
